Monteverdi Christmas

Celebrate the holidays with Monteverdi’s festive, luminous music-where old world meets new, and joy lights up the winter night. This December, Music at Co-Cath (MACC) invites audiences to celebrate the season with Monteverdi Christmas, a program of festive brilliance drawn from Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 and Selva morale e spirituale.

Performed at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights, the concert places Monteverdi’s radiant settings in the soaring architecture of a sacred space, evoking both grandeur and intimacy. MACC’s immersive staging will weave theatrical storytelling with choral majesty, bringing centuries-old Christmas music vividly into the present.

“Monteverdi is the bridge between Renaissance and Baroque,” says Artistic Director Alejandro Zuleta. “His music is bursting with drama and color—perfect for a Christmas concert that feels both celebratory and deeply moving.”

All performances are free and open to the public.
