Songs of Hope: Psalms for Troubled Times

Old First Reformed Church

729 Carroll Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215

Our 2024 spring program, Songs of Hope:  Psalms for Troubled Times is intended to be a balm for listeners, a brief escape from the current political uncertainty, distressing world events, and general unpredictability of life. The concert will feature choral settings of Psalms, long a rich source of inspiration for composers, that bring comfort, contemplation and hope to listeners.

Dixit Dominus by Marianna Martines (1744-1812)
I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes by Adolphus Hailstork (b. 1941)
Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990).
Salmo 30 by Chris Urquiaga

The Chorale will be joined by a 30-piece orchestra and four professional soloists:

Karmesha Peake, mezzo-soprano

Carami Hilaire, soprano

Edward Washington II, tenor

Peter Kendal Clark, baritone
