Rare Performance of Mozart’s Requiem within Solemn High Mass

The Higher Word Orchestra will be playing Mozart’s Requiem in its entirety to accompany a Solemn High Mass celebrated by Fr. Brian Graebe for the repose of the soul of Alex Klucik. While many people are familiar with Mozart’s masterpiece, they may be accustomed to listening to it out of context. Mozart’s masterpiece was written for liturgical use, and this orchestral performance is a rare opportunity to hear this landmark of the classical repertoire in its spiritual home, the Mass.

This Requiem Mass is sponsored by the Alex Klucik Memorial Fund, which was founded in 2010 after Alex tragically passed away in a car accident at the age of 19. Alex was a uniquely virtuous young man devoted to the Eucharist and the Rosary. As one of the first residents of Ave Maria, he helped build the town’s authentic Catholic culture and is still a legendary figure in its history. The AKMF was founded to keep Alex’s memory alive and to support the Christian ideal that Alex sought to live by supporting Catholic organizations that enrich and shape the lives of young people.

Today, the Klucik family is launching Alexander Hall, a Catholic fraternal residence in NYC in Alex’s honor. The Requiem Mass will be an opportunity to pray for Alex’s soul but also raise awareness about his life and the legacy being built through this housing project.
